Team SnapShot was formed back in May of 2003 under the name Southern Pride. The team, at that time, consisted of Marty Hall Sr., Marty Hall Jr., and William Ryder. That team entered a local 3man rookie league at Wicked Sports Complex. The team finished 6th out of 14 teams, and was quite pleased with their performance. The second 3man tourney rolled around and Marty Sr. was in need of a new player. In steps Todd Sides (I will refer to Todd Sides as me for the rest of this narration). I was picked up to replace William, who was transferred to a new Marine Base. We entered the tourney and finished 5th out of 14 teams, moving our overall ranking to 5th. After the second 5man tourney, myself and Marty Sr. decided that we wanted to make Southern Pride into a 5man team and play the CFOA tournament season. Problem was, I didn't feel that Southern Pride was a name that Sponsors would like, so I purposed a name change. After several weeks of going through hundreds of names, we selected Team SnapShot.
After selecting a new name we decided that we would travel to Myrtle Beach, SC and enter the CFOA 3man Rookie Bash at the Beach. Marty Jr. was not able to go with us so we picked up a new member Matt Cottingham. Matt was a great addition to our team, and he complimented our playing style perfectly. We went to Bash at the Beach and brought back the first place trophy for DC/Wicked. After the 3man success we decided that it was time to move to the 5man arena. We picked up two great local players, Gene Sloan and Bud Kluttz. Both are regulars at our field and both have great skill and talent. Playing the last two 2003 CFOA events SnapShot finished very well. In our first 5-man CFOA event we finished with 3 wins and 3 losses.. Not bad for our first 5-man event. The last event in Tn. was even better. Finishing 6th over all out of about 35 teams. Snap Shot was well on the way to becoming a competitive paintball team.
In the 2004 CFOA season Snap Shot competed in all of the events and finishing 10th over all. The 2005 season was difficult because of personnel changes. We picked up several local players that had not been playing long at all. The plan was to develop these players as the season went along. Well the players did not have the dedication it takes to become good balers and left the team in mid season. After openings were made on the team they were filled with players that loved the sport and Snap Shot competed the last couple of CFOA events in the Novice division. Not doing bad just missing the semi finals gave us hope for the 2006 season.
